The Sambalpur University Act was passed by Odisha Legislature on 10th December, 1966. This popular educational institution  was inaugurated on 1st January, 1967. It is located Jyoti Vihar Burla at Orissa. This University at Jyoti Vihar offers Post-Graduate education in 27 subjects through Twenty Post-Graduate Departments.
